The Las Vegas Open is organized by the Nevada Backgammon Association and is definitely one of the biggest backgammon tournaments in the US. The tour is a part of the ABT (American Backgammon Tour). The Las Vegas Open is an event that stretches for more than five days. It usually includes side events, jackpots and of course tournaments. However the main event is the one in which every one wants to participate. The championship has three levels of play: beginners, intermediate and championship.

Beside the American backgammon pros the Las Vegas Open also attracts professionals from all over the world. In November 2008 were registered more than 200 players from various parts of this planet such as Europe, Middle East, Australia and of course North and South America.

During the Las Vegas Open is also held the American Doubles Backgammon Tournament. The team that manages to succeed in this event receives the prestigious national title.
